Puzzle Twenty - Christmas Presents

On the last day before the Christmas holidays, the residents of one of the girls' dorm rooms in Hufflepuff Tower exchanged gifts. There are, as usual, five girls to a dorm room - the names of this group are Alison, Brenda, Chandria, Dolanna, and Eve. Each one drew from a hat the name of another member to get a gift for. Each student thus gave one gift and received one gift.

Can you find the gift each Hufflepuff student gave (a wizarding chess set, a set of colored magical inks, a hand-knit scarf, a pair of broomstick clippers, and a copy of Gardening for the Busy Wizard by Eadaoin Caddell), and to whom it was given?

  1. No two of the girls simply exchanged gifts between themselves.

  2. Brenda (who received the gardening book) gave a present to the person who gave a present to Alison.

  3. The one who received the scarf gave the chess set.

  4. Chandria gave a present to Eve.

  5. Alison gave the broomstick clippers.
You may use the following table to help you figure it out. When you've completed the puzzle, you may submit your answer using the form at the bottom of the page.
